My Journey
I realize I have my parents to thank for the gift of growing up in beautiful natural environments—from the shores of Long Island, New England, and the Caribbean to the Catskill mountains of upstate New York—that cultivated this now addictive passion.
I was able to follow dreams inspired by the television programs I watched on Sunday afternoons in the 1960s and ’70s—Curt Gowdy and the American Sportsman and Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom—and the magazines I spent my early years reading: Sailing, Yachting, Nautical Quarterly, and, of course, Field and Stream.
For the past twenty years, photography has been the perfect partner for my many passions. With an instinctual desire to capture flashing moments, I have always had my camera with me while enjoying my outdoor adventures. Whether it’s a world-class sailing regatta or a whisper about a new surfing spot with the perfect wave, my camera is always guiding me to the next magic moment. I hope these captured moments show a waterman and outdoorsman’s full story while highlighting the legends that were the pillars of each adventure.
My Philosophy:
Don’t Let the Old Man In
Over time, you make a choice in life: prioritize exposure to new places or settle for familiar routines. In the right environments, our thought processes change, and all that contaminates our well-being is dismissed, allowing the essence of the journey to come into focus. The search then becomes organic, and with it, the world becomes our oyster.
When surrounded by people who wake up with a purpose and who have a good story to tell, you recognize the measure of a life well lived. As my collection of experiences grows, so, too, does the desire to continue to be part of a fraternity made up of those who pursue adventure.
I look forward to the growth to come from more time behind my camera and from my efforts to put pen to paper to preserve the legacy created and cherished by all who participate.
